Beantown Boomtown

The tragic events in Boston are all over the news. It's important, but I'm annoyed by the constant 24x7 news coverage, none of which can be distinguished from any other.

I suppose it was just a matter of time before we got hit again, but an Improvised Explosive Device (IED)  was not what I expected.  Under President George W. Bush, the Department of Homeland Security had $20 million allocated for preventing the use of IEDs by terrorists working inside the United States. The current White House has cut that funding down to $11 million.  Apparently the sequester has relegated frivolous expenditures like homeland security and White House tours to the back burner.  It's important to note that Mrs. Obama's fiftieth birthday bash was spared from the sequester and Jay Carney claimed the Obama's paid for it themselves.  I wonder who paid for the extra secret service protection, the extra wait staff, the screeners and background checkers, and motorcades of the DC and Capital police.  I will never be convinced that Michelle’s star-studded shindig didn't not come at the expense of school children denied White House tours.  But I digress.

It took less than a day for the liberal media to begin speculating over the right wing conservative group that must have perpetrated this horrendous act.  Chris (Tingling Down My Leg) Mathews  said the following:  “I was just thinking, again, it’s early; it’s an early situation, but going after the Kennedy Library, not something at Bunker Hill, not something from the freedom trail or anything that kind of historic, but a modern political figure of the Democratic Party.  Does that tell you anything?”  It tells me a great deal about Chris Mathews; none of it new.  Mathews went on to ask Michael Leiter (former director of the United States National Counterterrorism Center) the following: “Let me ask you about domestic terrorism as a category. Normally, domestic terrorists, people tend to be on the far right, well that’s not a good category, just extremists, let’s call them that. Do they advertise after they do something like this? Do they try to get credit as a group or do they just hate America so much or its politics or its government that they just want to do the damage, they don’t care if they get public credit, if you will?” Perhaps Chris Mathews has never heard of Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, or Kathy Boudin.

Bill Ayers murdered seven people, not counting the three Weather Underground members who blew themselves up while making bombs in Greenwich Village.  In all, seventeen children were left without fathers because of Ayers' actions. The Weather Underground attempted to murder five more people when they fire bombed the home of a judge in the middle of the night while his children were sleeping in the home.  In 2001, Ayres told the New York Times he is sorry they did not do more.  "I don't regret setting bombs..... 'I feel we didn't do enough." The Weather Underground claimed responsibility for more than thirty bombings.  Ayers is a retired professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago.  Ayers also hosted Barak Obama's political coming out party at his home in 1995 where Alice Palmer introduced Obama as her chosen successor to the Illinois State Senate.

Bernardine Dohrn is Ball Ayers' wife and revolutionary partner in crime.  To my knowledge, she's never publicly admitted to murder, but she isn't shy about her Communist mindset. "We are building a communist organization to be part of the forces which build a revolutionary communist party to lead the working class to seize power and build socialism." - Bernardine Dohrn
Dohrn is an Associate Professor of Law at Northwestern University School of Law.

Kathy Boudin was a survivor of the 1970 Greenwich Village townhouse explosion; the premature detonation of a nail bomb which had been intended for a soldiers' dance at Fort Dix. She also spent 22 years in prison for her involvement in an armored car robbery that left two police officers and a Brinks guard dead.  She was no innocent bystander in the infamous 1981 Brinks robbery.  Look up her despicable actions for yourself.  Boudin currently holds a prestigious adjunct professorship at Columbia University - not exactly a bastion of conservative thinking.

Let's be fair here.  The left certainly hasn't cornered the market on domestic terrorism.  Timothy McVeigh was considered a extreme right wing zealot when he blew up the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City.  Unlike Ayers, Dohrn, and Boudin who were rewarded with lofty positions in academia, McVeigh was prosecuted and justifiably executed for his crimes.

"Let’s hope the Boston Marathon bomber is a white American." - David Sirota, Salon.com, 4/16/2013
Few statements illustrate the liberal left's desires for America than this one.  If the Boston bomber turns out to be anything other than some flag waving white redneck NRA member who fits Chris Mathews' descriptive mindset, the liberal media will have to create a reason to find fault with conservatives that will somehow justify the bomber's actions.  The cynic in me thinks differently.  Perhaps the bomber is just padding his resume for a future position in liberal college academia.
